Magnolias in Spring sunshine
What a sight to see these incredible crimson-pink magnolias against a blue-blue spring sky, just gorgeous! I love to walk most days, and I do love to study gardens and floral displays. When the magnolias appear in early spring I will be seen just standing in the street and taking in their beauty. (Yes, artists can seem a little mad.) The shape of the petals is so elegant, and together they form a gorgeous crown. The dark jagged stick-like stems create a lovely contrast to the soft curvaceous petals. To add to their beauty the gentle fragrance fills the air…a treasure to behold!
I used a different technique for this one, using an impasto gel to enhance the textures. It gave more of a three dimensional look to the stems and the petals.
